|Description:||Each year we provide a variety of academic and other supportive services to over 5,000 students throughout the county. These services are rooted in the philosophy of Youth Development that emphasizes a caring and respectful community that values the contribution youth can make in determining their own futures. We believe that strong collaborations with school districts, governmental and community-based agencies, parents, businesses and a variety of other community members are vital to the success of our youth.|
|Mission:||The Student Support Services Department provides a conduit between school districts, community resources and governmental institutions that support the overall mission of the SCCOE through the development of programs, services and trainings that promote school safety, youth employment/development, supportive services and community partnerships.|
|Programs:||Healthy Girls Santa Cruz (HGSC)
provides services that support girls' healthy development, with a focus on body image, self-esteem, relationships, self-care and leadership skill development.
Law Related Education Programs:
The Mock Trial program: created to help students acquire a working knowledge of our judicial system, develop their analytical abilities and communication skills, and gain an understanding of their obligations and responsibilities as participating members of our society.
Teen Peer Court: Teen offenders between the ages of 13 and 17 who have committed a misdemeanor crime have their cases heard by a jury of their peers.
Real DUI Court in Schools: conduct live driving under the influence (DUI) sentencing hearings in high schools to provide students with the opportunity to see up close the consequences of a DUI offense.
Safe Schools: has established updated procedures in four critical areas of emergency management at our local schools; mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. An important element in our efforts to keep schools safe have centered on the implementation of uniform lockdown procedures throughout the county.
The School Attendance Review Boards (SARB) was created to help truant students and their parents or guardians solve school attendance and/or behavior problems with the help of available school and community resources.

Students in Transition/Foster Youth Services Programs:
Students in Transition (SIT): facilitates the enrollment of homeless children and youth into comprehensive or alternative public education programs, preschools and other academic enrichment programs; maintain their enrollment; and ensure academic and/or vocational success into a self-sufficient lifestyle.
Foster Youth Services (FYS): provides advocacy, guidance and community organization around the issues of school enrollment and success for students in foster care.
Write-Start Backpack Project: gathers school supplies and backpacks for needy school children.
Workforce Investment Act/Suenos Program:
provides Watsonville youth with support services and opportunities to improve academic achievement, prepare for and succeed in employment and develop as citizens and leaders.
Youth Employment Program (YEP): To provide comprehensive career development activities to youth
