Description:Girls For A Change (GFC) is a national organization that empowers thousands of teen girls to create and lead social change. GFC provides girls with professional female role models, leadership training and the inspiration to work together in teams to solve persistent societal problems in their communities.

ELIGIBILITY: Volunteer Girl Action Team Coach must be at least 18 years of age.
Mission:Empower girls to be social change makers by providing the tools, resources and support girls need to move from being spectators to being change makers. Catalyze professional women to support urban middle and high school girls to become social change makers and innovators, by training the women as social change makers and activists.
Programs:GFC offers a 14 week program either in the fall (August to December) or the spring (January to May) to girls at various partner locations in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Mateo Counties. Girls Join Girl Action Teams where they meet once a week for 12 weeks to design, lead, and implement a social change project. They are accompanied by two women volunteers called Girl Action Team Coach who are there to help them through the project planning steps toward completion of their project.
Meetings:Girl Action Teams meet at different times depending on the partnership. Meetings can start anywhere from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. The GFC program meets on site at the school or community based organization we are partnered with.
Volunteer Info:We are looking for women volunteers to guide girls through the process of identifying an issue in their community and then designing a project that creates change around that issue.

Each year we reach out to community members like you to support the girls as they create social change. Our biggest need over the summer is to fill the volunteer role of Coaches. Coaching with GFC means working with girls for 14 weeks to tell them they are important and powerful and that they can create change. The commitment is about 15 hours per month and includes one meeting with girls per week. We have teams that start in the fall (August to December) and in the spring (January to May). We offer Coach Training, staff support and a coach manual to help guide you during the year. We provide the support you need to work effectively with girls in communities throughout the Silicon Valley.

You can choose if you would like to coach a team in the fall or in the spring.
