Description:Kuumbwa Jazz is an internationally recognized nonprofit jazz venue. Weekly jazz series, also available to outside promoters to bring in acts such as bluegrass, folk, Celtic and world music.

2013 Camp Information
Camp Location: Cabrillo College, 6500 Soquel Dr., Aptos VAPA Complex
Room: First day all campers meet in #5156
Dates: Monday, June 17 Thursday, June 27
Times: Grades 8-9 attend from 9am -12pm; Grades 10-12 attend from 11am -2pm
Camp Concert: Thursday, June 27, 6:30 pm at Kuumbwa Jazz Center.

Summer Jazz Camp is an annual day camp for students entering grades 8-12 who are interested in learning jazz, improvisation and jazz appreciation. Students receive both one to one and group instruction. The camp focuses on performance, basic improvisation and theory, concepts and phrasing, history and appreciation. The camp is directed by Santa Cruz County music educators Steve Wilson and Terrel Eaton. Additional jazz instructors will assist daily.
Required Skills: Students must know at least 3 major scales and have experience with instrument.
Drummers must know standard jazz rhythms.

JAZZ VOCAL ENSEMBLE
Entering Grades 10-12 only.
Vocalists encouraged to enroll with referral from Current Choir Director

Tuition: $250
Deadline to register:June 8th or when filled
We are committed to providing deserving young musicians the opportunity to pursue their passion for music in an intensive jazz instruction environment, regardless of financial resources. Scholarships are made possible by the Jazz Camp Scholarship Fund.
Facilities:Facility is available to rent to independent concert promoters and private parties for receptions and community events with catering available.
