|Description:||The vision of this city advisory body is to end sexual assault, sexual harassment and domestic violence in the City of Santa Cruz through prevention, programs and public policy.
to make ending violence against women the highest priority in the City of Santa Cruz; to ensure collaboration with other public and private agencies to support existing programs and support the development of new programs as needed; to facilitate meaningful citizen participation in the work of the Commission; and to continue to work with law enforcement to develop strategies for the successful prosecution and conviction of the crimes of violence against women.

|Mission:||To collaborate with local stakeholder partners and law enforcement to ensure best practices to respond to and prosecute violent crimes against women.|
|Programs:||Partners with local agencies to provide events, programs and services which raise awareness, provide education and engage the community in the issue of violence against women. Programs and events typically scheduled in April for Sexual Assault Awareness and in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Coordinates the Safe Place Network program in collaboration with Women's Crisis Support-Defensa de Mujers, Downtown Association and the Downtown Commission. Information available on website.
Offers low cost self-defense classes for girls, teens, women, and seniors throughout the year. Classes teach self-defense strategies of awareness, verbal skills, assertiveness, and physical techniques. Women and girls of all abilities are welcome. Classes are self-paced, non-competitive and combine discussion and physical work; comfortable clothing suggested.
