Community Options is a private, non-profit that receives partial funding from the County of Santa Cruz to operate the Court Referral Program.
Interviews at Community Options are held Monday through Thursday 8:30am-3:30pm.
The organization interviews, places, monitors, and sends final reports to court. All clients are placed with non-profit agencies or tax supported agencies.
ELIGIBILITY: Referral by criminal justice (court, probation or other county) agencies.
FEES: The client fee schedule is $35 for 1-16 hours, $55 for 17-40 hours, $75 for 41-79 hours, $125 for 200 to 349 hours, $150 for 350 to 499 hours, $175 for 500 to 750 hours, $200 for 751 to 1000 hours and $250 for over 1000 hours. The juvenile fee schedule is a $35 flat fee per case. A non-refundable fee must be paid before placement at a worksite. Cash, money orders, checks with valid ID, Visa or MasterCard are accepted for payment of client fees. No checks are accepted 30 days or less before the court referral completion date. No out of county/out of state checks will be accepted. Community service work hours are not confirmed to the Court unless the complete fee balance is paid including any returned checks. Clients may request a payment plan. Fees must be paid in full before Court Referral completes a case. After placement, the client is responsible to perform the community service in a manner acceptable to the work site supervisor. The Court Referral Program informs the Court of completion. Clients sentenced in Santa Cruz County Courts who live or work in another county or state will be charged a $50 fee to transfer the case to that county/state. The program in the county of residence may also charge additional fees.
