Description:El Pajaro Community Development Corporation has more than thirty years of experience in the provision of bilingual/bicultural small business assistance and promotes micro-enterprise and small business development by supporting low-income and minority entrepreneurs in Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties.

ELIGIBILITY: Primarily focused on minority, Spanish speaking and low-income entrepreneurs. Anyone in business or planning a business in area.
Programs:Plaza Vigil Incubator: assists low to moderate-income, Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs with starting and operating a successful business in the Plaza Vigil located in downtown Watsonville.

The Commercial Kitchen Incubator (CKIP)program is a food business incubator in a fully equipped, shared-use commercial kitchen facility. The CKIP was created in response to the growing need among aspiring local entrepreneurs wanting to build upon the strong food and farming traditions in our region.

Technical Assistance and Training: low-cost and free bilingual business education and training workshops to low-income business entrepreneurs.

Business Education and Loan Program: Women’s Business Education and Loan Program (WBELP)helps women business entrepreneurs to access services that will give them important education and technical assistance they need to start and operate their own business.

Childcare Ventures: providing social
assistance, education and business development assistance to family child care
providers.

The CalWORKs Microenterprise Assistance Program: participants who are receiving welfare and social services from the County of Santa Cruz can choose to be retrained for a specific job or to take the 4 week business course offered by the El Pájaro CDC.

Loans: Kiva Zip is a pilot project that
enables socially impactful but financially excluded entrepreneurs to access 0%
interest, microfinance loans in the U.S.
