Description:The Homeless Garden Project offers job training and transitional employment to people who are homeless in the therapeutic context of an organic garden and related enterprises.

Our volunteer program is flexible to allow for varied interests (farming, retail, special events, technology, etc.) and schedules (daily, weekly, or just here and there).

Our farm is located just past Natural Bridges Beach at the end of Delaware Ave. Take a right onto Shaffer Road and we're about 200 yards down on the right hand side of Shaffer Road. While we don't have a registered address, but by plugging "0 Shaffer Road" to a GPS, google maps, etc. you'll find us.

In the kitchen: At the farm @ 0 Shaffer Road (Delaware Ave), Santa Cruz CA
We are looking for someone to help prepare the lunches on Thursdays & Fridays. We serve lunch to our crew, trainees and volunteers Tuesday through Friday every week, usually around Noon. We are looking for a weekly commitment over a period of months for this position.

In the Office and Around: We are currently looking for the following positions at 30 West Cliff Drive in Depot Park:
Tabling - we often visit local festivals to table about ourselves and let people know more about us. We can always use more help!
- Staffing the Store - we like to have our store open as much as possible but rely on volunteers to do so. You would be manning the register, sweeping the store, stocking items as necessary, but mostly providing excellent customer service and sharing HGP with our customers.

ELIGIBILITY: Must be homeless for hiring, but volunteers and youth groups need not be homeless.

FUNDING: 54% donations, 24% sales of products, 12% grants and 10% events/business sponsorship.
Mission:In the soil of our urban farm and garden, people find the tools they need to build a home in the world.
Volunteer Info:Minimum Age: Under 16 must be accompanied by parent. Help in the gardens and greenhouse; planting, watering, weeding, harvesting. Learn about homelessness and organic gardening. On-going commitment not required but greatly appreciated. Open volunteer hours are Thursday and Friday 10am-2pm.
