Description:Recruits and places volunteers in positions within County government. The program was started in response to two needs: The need to give people the opportunity to get job experience, training, and do meaningful work, and the need to relieve overburdened county employees and departments. Volunteers are placed in positions which maintain or expand existing levels of operations by augmenting paid staff. Volunteers may be: People re-entering the workforce, people changing careers, people entering the workforce for the first time, student interns, and retirees.

ELIGIBILITY: An initial interview with the Program Coordinator, as well as completion of the VIP Volunteer Application is required before placement. For some volunteer positions of a sensitive or confidential nature, fingerprinting is required (The County of Santa Cruz covers the cost of fingerprinting for all VIP Volunteers). Call for more information.
