Elderhostel Programs

Programs that combine the tradition of student travel with the desire of older adults for continued intellectual stimulation. Participants may attend one or several of the week-long sessions of courses, touring and social events at Institutes for Learning in Retirement (ILRs) that comprise the Elderhostel Network. ILRs are sponsored by a college or university and provide noncredit academic programs developed by the members themselves. Also included are programs that offer two-week travel-study programs for persons age fifty and older. Participants attend lectures (in English) at universities located in Europe. Accommodations and meals are provided at the participating university or at nearby hotels.
