Description:The Downtown Senior Center offers a variety of classes, trips, and services for seniors ages 55 and up, as well as older adult classes for ages 45 and up. We offer both exercise and creative recreational courses to keep the mind and body active. We also offer day trips to museums, live shows, national parks, and cultural locations at special discounted prices. In addition, we occasionally host some special senior services that range from tax assistance to medical screenings. Our Downtown Senior Center also contains the Senior Computer Center, which offers a great diversity of computer classes, special interest groups, and volunteer help days to teach seniors the skills they need to stay current with today's technology.

ELIGIBILITY: People ages 60-over for lunch, 55-over for other.

FEES: Fees for trips and computer training. Suggested donation of $2.50 for meals. Many programs are free.

Programs:Meals on Wheels: Louden Nelson Dining Site
A nutritious lunch designed for seniors (60 years and over) is served every weekday, 12pm in Room 3. For a complete calendar of this month's meals please visit the dining site during business hours. Advance reservations are required, and there is a suggested donation of $2.50. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Call 831 427-0901 one day ahead by 1:00pm to reserve a lunch. Transportation is available, call 831-688-8840 for Lift Line.

Information and Referral
A Senior Network Services counselor is available to answer questions about services relevant to seniors during the Meals on Wheels lunch hour. Free of charge. 3rd Tuesday of the month, 11:30am-12pm in Room 3

Blood Pressure Screenings
Our expert volunteer can check your blood pressure during the Meals on Wheels lunch hour free of charge. Helpful information and health education pamphlets are also available.
2nd and 4th Thursdays each month, 10:30am-12:00pm

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program Meet with a HiCAP counselor for evaluation of Medicare supplemental insurance, HMOs, long term care insurance and claims assistance.

Project Scout Tax Assistance
Thursdays, 9:30-11:30am during tax season. Project SCOUT provides free tax assistance to seniors, individuals with a disability, and low income residents of Santa Cruz County.

Walking Adventure Group (WAG):
The Walking Adventure Group (WAG) is a walking group for older adults to explore parks, landmarks, and special cultural locations in and around the Santa Cruz County area.
